Sankranthi Sambharalu Sankranthi Sambharalu is a vibrant and colorful celebration of the harvest festival of Makar Sankranti, which marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign Capricorn (Makara). Celebrated in the month of January, this festival signifies prosperity, gratitude to nature, and the joy of a bountiful harvest. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Sankranthi is observed with great enthusiasm, and the festive celebrations are popularly known as Sankranthi Sambharalu. The festival usually spans three days – Bhogi, Sankranthi, and Kanuma. The first day, Bhogi, begins with Bhogi Mantalu, where people light bonfires early in the morning, symbolizing the discarding of old habits and welcoming new beginnings. Homes are cleaned and decorated with colorful rangavallis (muggulu) drawn with rice flour and vibrant colors. Mango leaves and marigold flowers adorn the entrances, creating a festive atmosphere.
